Tools For Fasting and Consecration

WELCOME TO FASTING TOOLS

At KBIM, fasting is an essential part of our spiritual growth

Fasting

The fast is a spiritual discipline designed to better connect us with God. As a church, we are fasting in order to deepen our relationship with God and to walk in step with His plan and purpose. The best way to do this is to redirect our food source. This is accomplished through substituting our regular food intake with Bible reading, praying and journaling. The overall goal is to experience a genuine hunger for spending time with God.

“Consecrate yourselves, for tomorrow the LORD will do amazing things among you” (Joshua 3:5).

Upon consecrating themselves, the children of Israel were assured of God's promises. The Lord promised that He would do amazing things among them (Joshua 3:5). Just as He opened the Red Sea to deliver them from their Egyptian bondage, He would open the Jordan River and take them into the Promised Land. In fact, this was just the beginning of the miracles God would perform for them in the conquest of the Promised Land. It’s no wonder the psalmist declares, “Your ways, O God, are holy. What god is so great as our God? You are the God who performs miracles; you display your power among the peoples” (Psalm 77:13-14).

Sanctify ye a fast call a solemn assembly, gather the elders and all the inhabitants of the land into the house of the Lord your God, and cry unto the Lord. Joel 1:14

The teaching and tradition of refraining from food and drink (fasting) may sound bizarre to most men, but to God it is an acceptable means to reach him. Fasting should never bring harm to the body. And if you have concerns, be sure to consult your health professional before going on the fast or making any major dietary change.
